Heartbreak! Should it be rock or bluegrass...ish?
Recorded a few houses down from our place in East Nashville, here's the making of a
demo version of "Heartbreak".
The last Loretta Lynn record Jack White produced that won a few Grammys was recorded
in this small house studio it's been cool of Eric for letting us hang out & record music.
The song may turn out with a bluegrass feel like it has on the demo *or*
maybe with a rock beat on it.. which way do you think it should be??

Fall 2009 Recap, Let Me Down Slow
So here's the only video that will be made of previously filmed stuff... A brief recap of Fall 2009 played behind a rough live recording of this idea we're calling "Let Me Down Slow".
Our friend, Ken Coomer (Uncle Tupelo, Wilco) is playing drums on this one & it was recorded down in our jam room as a rough live take.
Hope you enjoy the first of many videos documenting our 2 months of making a record in Nashville.
Two of the best old videos...

It's been a long time....
So we've been super busy and on the road all this fall...our blog has pretty much been daily updates from twitter... but now that we're off the road for a few days we've decided to highlight a few moments over the past few months....
First off we moved to Nashville. Here's the view coming in to our place.

Our jam and rehearsal/recording room...(still in the works)

Sand Destin, FL > J.P. rocking a Dylan tune...you can tell by the dude in the background that the crowd was digging it.

This pic is possibly from a Smith's Olde Bar show or Unplugged in the Park in Atlanta...we ended up partying till the sun came up with a bunch of our friends on the roof of our bud Dave's place. I think this pic is from the W. Hotel. The pool was freezing.

Smith's

Since we've been in Nashville we'd had the opportunity to meet some awesome and talented folks. Here's a picture of us jamming with our new bud Kyle Cook from Matchbox 20 at his new studio.

BIRTHDAY'S!!!!
John rocking a keg stand after our show at a house party on his birthday in Starkville, MS.

JP's homemade cake.

Thanks B-ham for the cookie cake!

Our glorious new van setup on the way to Charlotte, NC! LAZY BOY!

DAYTONA BEACH TATTOOS!!!!!
So we decided while we were in Daytona Beach, FL we would buy some badass airbrush t-shirts, get sweet hair wraps, buy a hermit crab and ALL GET TATTOOS!!!! Check out the pics of our killer beach TATS!!!!
Our tour manager Llew loves unicorns so he rocked this sweet back tat!!!!! Check out the pink unicorn smoking a cig.

JP finally cut loose and unveiled his love for Clay Aiken. Check out the detail on his new back tat as well!!!!!

Scotts killer Pee-Wee Tat. Ever since Pee-Wee got busted, Scott's always wanted to be just like the Herman.

Cragon's main man is Tony Danza...but Cragon still claims to all ladies that in the sack he's "The Boss"...so he rocked this sweet tat in honor of Tony's coolness.

A lost camera...but we're back.
So, the last post was at SXSW. Since then, we've done all kinds of crazyness and been on the road for over a month. Daytona Beach, Orlando, ATL, Nashville, Jacksonville, etc. Hell, we even saw someone drunken-form-tackle a man dressed up in a banana suit. Our camera was lost for a while, but we've found it! ...so here's a few pics that were recovered. The blog is back! Check out our new twitter page and "Far From Home" music video at http://www.hightideblues.com
Zydeco in Birmingham. Most enthusiastic crowd we've ever had there. Cheers to our buds Simplified for opening the show. We'll see you fellas on Tuesday in Charlotte.
We decided to check out places to live in Nashville and ended up going to a giant horse race called Steeplechase. Too bad we didn't see too many horses due to the fact of an all day drunken tailgate.

Florida Music Festival. Orlando was awesome. Best crowd of the week. We went on right before the festival headliner Asher Roth (the white guy that raps about college) His flight was cancelled due to weather so we opened up for a local 80's cover band.

500 Songs for Kids in Atlanta, GA. Always good times! Great tunes for a great cause.

The Georgia Theatre in Athens. Small crowd but cheers to the Whigs & Dead Confederate for coming out to the show.

RICHARDPALOOZA!!! One of our bud's bday parties. Turned out to be a drunken jam session with the Benjy Davis Project guys. It's too bad there's no pics of Mic dressed as a stripper in a fat suit. Long night.

Blew a tire on the trailer on the way back from ATL. Scott is obviously working extra hard...that's why his ass crack is showing.

One night we jammed a UFC fight night. Here's a pic of our opening act.

ST. PATTY'S DAY @ THE BEACH & IN NEW ORLEANS!!!
On St. Patty's Day, we were off so we spent most of the day out on the beach and hanging at the Flora-Bama. That night we cruised down to New Orleans to meet up with some friends and watch The Rebirth Brass Band at the Maple Leaf Bar. A big shout out to our bud Stew, Rebirth's manager for hooking us up. It was a killer show and we even ran into the actor Steve Zahn jamming out.
HTB BEACH WEEK!!!
Night one of our beach adventure we played an early show at the Hangout in Gulf Shores, AL. It's a really cool venue and a big shout out to Jimmy for having us back! Good times hanging with you this weekend.

Here's the sound man from the Hangout. This guy was so miserable at running sound it was funny. The power went off almost 3 times during our first set. He was drunk the whole show and he kept talking about "hiding the weenie" with all the older ladies in the crowd...pretty ridiculous.

Here's a pic of the beach house they put us up in across the street.

A pic from one of the shows.

After the first night at the Flora-Bama our buds from New Orleans, the Revivalists dropped in for the late night.

Night two...down the road for three nights in a row at one of the last roadhouse bars still alive...the legendary Flora-Bama!!!

OH YEAH...THE ATL!!!
So we're back in ATL. We played a cool spot called Vinyl. One of our favorite places to play in town. Before we loading in, we hit up a NPR radio spot in town. Good ol' Georgia Public Broadcasting. Big shout out to our new friend Rickey Bevington for having us on the show. You're incredible!!! Here's a funny story...If only we were 10 minutes earlier to the radio gig we would've ran into DOLLY PARTON!!! She was the interview right before us...so whenever we signed the autograph book we signed it right next to her. haha. pretty cool. Later that night we rocked the Vinyl @ Center Stage. It was slammed out and once again our good buds Simplified played on the bill along with another excellent band from Birmingham called the White Oaks.. check them out. Really cool stuff. Here's some pics from the day. Later this week we're heading to the BEACH, New Orleans, and then out to SXSW in Austin, TX. It should be fun. We'll keep you updated.
